Skype’s London Office

An old post from SFgate and the title is Skype’s Secret Hideout

711 Lexington St., London

The staff writer went to London to interview V.P. of Global Marketing Saul Klein, the writer had a few words about how he got the address info and posted 2 pictures.

2 comment were made to this post:

What kind of a useless article is this?
Who gives a flying of where a company is at?
How much are you paid for doing the SF-London trip and take a picture of a door bell?

- How did the interview go?
- What do you bring back in terms of meaningful content???

Thank you for wasting my time on this one!

And the 2nd:

This was really funny. Will this force them to move elsewhere? And JC, haven’t you read the article already?

Ouch.!!

It is not sure that Skype London Office is still there, they might have been long gone

after the address was revealed.

Thanks to the comment!

The orginal post from SFGate.

And please don’t complaint, here is the interview.

Oh My Pod - My Ipod Video Frozen Up!

This Ipod Video keeps frozen up lately. This is a 2 years old Ipod, it is not heavily used. I wonder what happens to it. I’m a little upset that the warranty has expired and I don’t have the extended coverage on it.

After Poking around, I found that this is a common problem among the Ipod owners. Have to do a reset
to the Ipod to bring it back from frozen.

The reset varies depend on the Ipod Model:

Here is the steps to bring your Ipod back from frozen:

1) Make sure the “Hold Switch” is off.

2) Hold the “Menu” and “Select” buttons at the same time for about 6 ~ 10 seconds. If it doesn’t work the first time, you may have to repeat the process.

3) For older model, hold the “Menu” and “Play” button
instead.

While you’re holding the buttons, be sure not touching other part of the click wheel.

If it’s did not work after you follow the steps above, connect your Ipod to a stable power source,
to the power adapter or to the computer (it has to be on).

Lastly, you may want to check for the latest software
for the Ipod. Get the latest version of the iTune; use the iTunes to check for updates for the Ipod software.

What Other Features Available Using Skype?

What Other Features Are Available Using Skype?

Skype, in addition to its popular calling services, has also incorporated several features into its service. Here are just samples of what Skype has to offer.

A new feature of Skype is called Skype Web. It allows Skype users to display their Skype online status on a Web page, email, blog, any other HTML enabled content or any other Internet-enabled application. To take advantage of this feature, you need to opt-in to show your online status to everyone. Go to Skype; select tools from the menu; and choose options.

Under the privacy settings, you will need to check the option to “Allow my status to be shown on the web”. Then, click on the link to get a Skype Button for your webpage. Visit

http://www.skype.com/share/buttons and follow the instructions to get a status-aware Skype button.

SkypeMe mode is another feature of Skype which allows everyone else on Skype to know that you are available and interested in talking or chatting. This includes people, who you do not know, or you have not authorized, but who can find you by searching the Skype directory.

Skype Me mode disables your privacy settings and allows anyone to contact you, whether you’ve authorized them or not. Your privacy settings are restored as soon as you leave Skype Me mode.
The Skype Web Toolbars is another great feature which allow you to combine Skype with Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. It is a great tool to search for people or businesses, and call them with one click, using Skype.

What Is Skype SMS

SkypeSMS is a quick and easy means by which you can get in touch with friends when they are not online or unavailable by sending messages via your computer. In addition, it is quite inexpensive.

As with SkypeOut, you need to buy Skype credit in order to use SkypeSMS.  The procedure is very easy, just go to your account page and click on the link in the tools menu in Skype.  Select the amount of Skype credit you need to buy and make the payment using any major credit card.

You are probably asking, “How does it work?” Simply go to Skype, and from the file menu select tools, then “Send SMS message” and simply follow the steps. You can send SMS to your Skype contacts if they have added their mobile numbers to their profile or simply to phones that are SMS enabled. You can even send the same SMS to more than one friend at a time.

Here is an example of how you would use SkypeSMS.  First, make sure you have the latest version of Skype. You can always upgrade, free, if you have an earlier version. Obtain the credit as mentioned earlier. Open the SMS window and on the file menu select tools, then send SMS message.  The SMS window will open to allow you to add the name(s) of the person you are sending the message to.

You have the ability to send SMS messages to SkypeOut users or Skype users if they have added their numbers in their profile. Another great feature with SkypeSMS is that you can send the same SMS to multiple people by selecting their names and clicking add. You can also enter a phone number directly to send an SMS message to that number using the number entry field.

Now you can type the SMS message you wish to send. The cost to send your message will be displayed in the bottom of the SMS window. When you are finished, click Send SMS and your message will be on its way.

What Is Skype Call Forwarding?

Most of you already have call forwarding on your regular phones. With Skype call forwarding, the same system applies. You can answer your Skype calls when you are not online, or are traveling, away from home; or from anywhere you are.

The benefits derived by Skype call forwarding enables you to receive calls wherever you are; divert calls to three numbers at the same time, and pay with the Skype credit to forward calls to regular phones.

The only time you pay if for calls you choose to forward to your regular or mobile phones. The charges are listed under th SkypeOut. SkypeOut rates page available on Skype’s website. You pay for the call forwarding service the same way you pay for SkypeOut service. You buy the credit from your account page or directly from the Skype software available.

Here’s how it works. When you are not on Skype, your calls can be forwarded to a regular phone or mobile phone. Remember, you will need the latest version of Skype for Windows in order to proceed. Open the options window on Skype, click on tools, options and select call forwarding and voicemail tab.

Enter the phone number you want the calls forwarded to. Ensure that you enter the number exactly as you would when calling from a regular phone. You can also have your calls forwarded to more than one number by clicking on advanced settings, and entering the list of numbers. Be sure to click on save when you are finished so that your calls will be forwarded to the numbers you selected.

That’s it! If you run into a problem, Skype has an online guide as well as other tools to help you to have a fun experience using call forwarding.
